Learn below about Acupuncture.
What Is Acupuncture?
Traditional acupuncture (known as the 5 Elements or Chinese Traditional Acupuncture) is a healthcare system based on ancient principles that originated in China approximately 2,500 years ago.
Acupuncture is one of the longest-established forms of healthcare in the world and is now practiced across the globe, becoming very popular in the western world.
Acupuncture promotes the body’s own healing abilities and helps to re-establish the body’s natural state of balance (homeostasis), making it a safe, chemical-free alternative for relief from many of today’s most common health complaints.

What Happens In Your Acupuncture Treatment?
During your initial appointment, we will have a thorough consultation where I will ask questions about your current symptoms, medical history, your sleeping pattern, pain levels, appetite, digestion, emotional/mental wellbeing, etc, as well as your general lifestyle and habits.
From this a prescription treatment plan will be created for you and multiple treatments will probably be required, usually, once a week to begin will and then becoming further apart.
The initial appointment is usually around one hour, with further appointments being around 40-45 minutes.
Acupuncture points are situated in all areas of the body, with some points being at a part further a way from the area of pain (these are known as distal points).
Between 5 and 20 acupuncture needs will be inserted into points on the body, these are very fine needles and therefore usually causes little or no discomfort with most people feeling nothing at all, which generally follows with the same comment “I didn’t even know that was in”.
Occasionally you may feel a mild aching or tingling sensation as the area is activated, especially with electro-acupuncture, client often enjoys the deep relaxation that the treatment provides and may fall asleep. Once the treatment is over, the needs are removed.
Everyone responds differently to their treatment, therefore post-treatment you may be completely relaxed or fully energized, and anywhere in between, all is perfectly normal.
You may also receive electro-acupuncture should your treatment require it, the treatment process is the exact same apart from a small current is passed through the acupuncture needles creating a boost to the treatment, particularly with the treatment of pain.
